PVDC latex coating is commonly used as coating material in pharmaceutical blister packs as well as for food packaging.

Coating with PVDC latex greatly improves the gas barrier and moisture barrier properties of BOPP, BOPET, PVC and PA films. The shelf life of pharmaceuticals and foods can be extended significantly by packaging with PVDC-coated film. Oil resistance, chemical resistance, and heat sealability can also be added to films by coating with PVDC latex.
